Lanyards

Lanyards

Lanyards allow a worker to move with a maximum of security without getting in the way.

There's two principal uses for them:

Restraint & work positioning: when the worker is prevented from moving around in an area where there is risk of falling, or when the worker positions himself at the work area with a fall arrest system as a back-up.

As part of a fall arrest system: when there's a risk of falling, a lanyard equipped with an energy absorber is used.

Restraint and Positioning Restraint and Positioning Restraint belts and fixed lanyards for use in Restraint positioning work (where the worker is physically prevented from entering a hazardous area by a fixed harness, belt and lanyard system).
Fall Arrest Fall Arrest Fall Arrest lanyards all incorporate a shock absorber - an extensible device that reduces the G forces on the body during a fall to a safe limit. They can be used for all aspects of fall arrest and restraint, and will protect against a fall factor 2 incident. Single designs are suitable for basic low-risk work, however for any climbing or traversing tasks twin lanyards are essential as they allow constant connection to be maintained as the worker passes obstructions.
Restraint Lanyards Restraint Lanyards These lanyards are designed to hold the user in restraint, so a fall cannot occur, or to hold the user in a position of work where a fall may occur. If a work positioning lanyard is being used the user should be backed up with a fall arrest device. A lanyard to EN 354:2002 may also be used in a fall protection system as a sub component if suitable and compatible with the proposed system. They are available in various lengths.
